FAQ
The art journal typically has a theme. Let's say 'Roses' for example. The journal then will typically be built with papers that represent roses. The journals will have pockets and in those pockets will be bits that also represent roses...such as a tag or a snippet of a rose picture. It is constructed and designed to inspire the journal owner to create a journal entry about anything that the owner cares to document. Included in the journal will be papers and blank pages where you can write those journal entries.
Some journals are neatly designed and others will be more grungy and include bits that are reclaimed or used - these are known as 'junk journals'. In either case, they both serve the same purpose. It will all depend on your own taste as to which ones appeal to you.
The folios are small pamphlets that can be added to the journal or even used as a much scaled down version of a journal. Most of my pieces are 4X6 to 5X7 in size Occasionally, I may make a taller, skinny piece or a mini piece. I may also add items for sale that you may want to include in the journal or folio such as stickers, snippets, ribbons, etc. Journals take 1-2 weeks to construct and folios about 1 week.
